Decided to pull something together before I leave town for a couple days. I did this earlier today and am "fairly satisfied" with how it came out. Some of the stars got a bit too blurry when the image was downsized, but overall I think it works considering the time that I had to work on it.

Be sure to full-view for better details and color! ;)

Everything in this image (minus the stars themselves) was created from scratch in Photoshop using a Muddy Pack from =resurgere. I had a pre-existing starfield I had made but it was just white dots before the mud came along. :p

Be sure to go check =resurgere out as they have some incredible resources over there!

Enjoy!

Looks great! Im not sure about the planet surface; I like the colors, but it doesnt have a 3d feeling. I take it it's a gas giant though(from the look of the swirls)? The starfield is great though.

I wasn't 100% about this planet either, but it was my first stab at a gas giant so I'm willing to give it a shot. (Glad you recognized it as that. :p)

Perhaps I'll put up a version of just the starfield...I really do like it more than the planet and think it could stand on it's own. Many thanks for the comments!

What were the stars made with then?

The stars themselves were made using an adapted version of the noise method that Greg Martin developed. That's just the white dots themselves though, the colors were done with the mud pack. ;)

Hope that helps - thanks for stopping by!
